Should the EU accept Iceland as a member of the European Union?

OK, I, like everyone in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, etc have seen the EU expanding since 1995, 2004 and 2007(this last one I don’t think they were ready to join, but they should have joined eventually).
Every country that belongs to the EU wanted to be part of the EU, they applied, some nations held referendums and it went positive for joining the EU. Even post communist countries like Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic applied for membership short after they became democratic nations and they did several intense reforms to meet the joining criteria, they deserve it, and what all the EU members have in common? They always wanted to join the Union and they were willing to do sacrifices and reforms to meet the membership criteria.
Well, not Iceland, they even held a referendum about 10 years ago, when their economy was stable, they have one of the highest GDP per capita in Europe, and the voted no, and the NO vote won by a vast majority and since, opinion polls have been held in Iceland about a possibly membership and always the majority wanted to stay put of the union.

Their Opinion is because they don’t need us, they have enough in their plate and they don’t want any outside interference in their system, even in the 2007 Icelandic elections. The main political parties managed to secure a policy of not applying for membership...
Now, they are in debts, almost broke, they had to borrow money from everyone, even the Russians, they even didn’t want to repay the savings that the British and the Dutch lost in Icesave because they were not Icelandic Citizens, and it gets worse, when the Icelandic government accepted to compensate the British and Dutch, the Icelandic people protested on the streets asking why are they paying money to foreigners, they are not Icelandic, they can take care of themselves,etc,etc...

They seem to forget that if an European bank operating in any other EU country is regulated by the financial authorities of the country the bank is originally from, for example, Northern Rock in the UK had to compensate Irish savers because they were regulated by the UK financial authorities, and they did.

So why should we let Iceland, a country where the government never wanted to be a part of the EU, the majority of their people also didn’t want to be a member and now, they have no money, they are broke and they come crying like a baby to us?
